I wish more rums would abandon age statements, seeing as they are often misleading and little more than a marketing thing. Taste is what matters, not numbers.
And this is tasty! Smelly too. Lots of overripe banana, as can be expected from a Jamaican pot still rum. Some caramel scent too, giving the impression of bannofee pie.
Taste is less sweet than expected based on the aroma. Very light body, very smooth, no burn. Quite a lot of oak, you can taste this has some age.
Finish is quite dry and medium long. All in all I'd have preferred a slightly fuller body and some bolder flavours, but this is a very pleasant effort nonetheless by an sympathetic brand.

I find this more like a fine brandy than a rum it's fruity, floral and fresh. Moving to the back of the mouth and throat the spices really come through.
Not overly dry and the taste does not linger long in the mouth. Well balanced and flavourful, Philip even likened it to a classic Fruit Salad sweet!

Judging by the reviews this is marmite! By the way, there is no marmite in it. I drink good rum straight. Yes indeed, banana comes through really strongly on the nose and back of the tongue, but some subtle spicier after-taste too.
Not a mixer. Enjoy after dinner or with a winter dessert like Christmas pudding. The colour is great, and what's more it gives the drinker the confidence that this is not an additive filled rum.
The taste is pleasant, banana is prominent, but I can also taste raisin in there. Overall great value rum, great taste, unadulterated, what more do you want.
I came across this rum while trying to find the best overall value for my mixed drinks. I've found rums in this price point suit my needs. It's very hard to find a rum rated higher without a significant jump in price.
I love the Don Pancho 8, but decided to give this a go, just to see. Since based on the rating and price it's comparable. Unfortunately, this rum did not work for me.
